Choose an engine

Engines

125: Yamaha 125 scooter, 14 hp (10 kW), 2006 to 2017 250: Yamaha 250 scooter, 21 hp (15 kW), 2005 to 2017

Maintenance

Typical interval: oil change every 10,000 km or 12 months, whichever comes first. Brake fluid every 2 years. On chain-driven models, lubricate and adjust the chain every 500 to 1,000 km. Plugs, valve clearance and air filter depend on the engine: see each version.

Body style and inspection points

On a scooter, have the variator belt and rollers checked when due, even if the scooter covers little distance in town. Also check the small-diameter tyres, which wear fast, the lights and the centre stand; a slipping belt is felt when pulling away.

Comparing generations

Other documented generations of this model: • XMAX (2017) (from 2017) : scooter, 12–28 hp. A first registration near a generation change does not identify the car on its own: check the body style and powertrain before using a service schedule.
