1. Introduction
AutoKarnet is committed to protecting the privacy of its users. This policy applies to the AutoKarnet website and to the AutoKarnet mobile applications for iOS and Android. It explains what personal data we collect, how we use it and what your rights are.
2. Data Collected
We collect the following data:
- Identification data: surname, first name, email address and, when saved from a registration certificate, the holder’s postal address
- Sign in with Apple or Google: if the user chooses one of these services, the provider supplies the data needed for authentication, such as the account identifier, name, email address and, where available, profile picture
- Vehicle data: make, model, year, registration number, fuel type
- Maintenance data: maintenance type, date, mileage, cost, garage
- Documents: invoices and receipts uploaded by the user
- Precise location: with the user’s permission, their position and the visible map area are used temporarily to find nearby automotive professionals, fuel stations, and charging points
- Application and device data: platform (iOS or Android), push notification token, installation identifier, device name and app version when the device is registered for notifications; technical logs may also contain the IP address, date, time and request details needed for security and troubleshooting
- Payment data: website payments are managed by Stripe, iOS purchases by Apple App Store and Android purchases by Google Play when offered; we retain the identifiers and status needed to manage the subscription, but no banking or payment card data
3. Use of Data
Your data is used to:
- Provide and improve our maintenance tracking services
- Send maintenance reminders by email (if enabled)
- Manage your subscription and payments
- Send account communications and, according to your preferences, product news or promotional offers by email or push notification
We never sell your data to third parties.
Professional directory and public data
The directory may contain public professional information from Sirene and the French Business Directory (business name or sole trader identity, activity, SIRET number and business address), together with information supplied directly by AutoKarnet partners. Where it relates to an identifiable individual, this data is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing a relevant automotive directory. Rights of access, rectification, objection and erasure may be exercised using the contact address below.
4. Data Retention
Your account data is retained while your account is active. Following an account deletion request, personal data, vehicles, maintenance records, documents and registered device tokens are deleted from our active systems within 30 days. Data that must be retained to meet a legal, accounting, fraud-prevention or dispute-resolution obligation is kept only for the required period, with restricted access. Temporary backups are deleted according to their normal rotation cycle.
Account and data deletion
You can delete your account directly in the iOS or Android app from Profile > Settings > Delete account. You can also use the website: sign in, open Profile, then choose Delete my account in the Danger zone. The deletion covers the account and its associated personal data, vehicles, maintenance records and documents. Deleting an AutoKarnet account does not automatically cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription, which must be managed in the relevant store.
Artificial intelligence processing
With the user’s explicit permission, AutoKarnet may process messages sent to the assistant and vehicle information needed to answer, selected invoices or documents, selected registration certificate pages together with text recognized on the device, and technical specifications and maintenance history used to suggest a personalized reminder plan.
This data is sent only to AutoKarnet, the publisher of the app. It is analysed by an open-source artificial intelligence model installed on servers that AutoKarnet owns and operates itself, and is used only by AutoKarnet to provide the requested feature.
This data is not shared with any artificial intelligence company (such as OpenAI, Google or Anthropic) or with any other third party.
Nothing is sent before the user agrees. Permission can be refused or withdrawn at any time in the app settings. Original documents used for analysis are not retained by the artificial intelligence engine. A generated maintenance plan is saved to the account only after the user explicitly approves it.
After user confirmation, registration certificate data needed for the vehicle logbook — including the holder’s name and address, registration number, VIN, and technical specifications — may be saved to their account. The holder’s name and address are encrypted on AutoKarnet servers and are accessible only to the vehicle owner.
5. Data Security
We implement technical and organisational security measures to protect your data:
- SSL/TLS encryption on all communications
- Passwords hashed with bcrypt algorithm
- Payments are securely managed by Stripe on the website, Apple App Store on iOS and Google Play on Android when offered
- Restricted and controlled data access

7. Cookies
