The car computes service deadlines through CBS, visible in the instrument cluster. Vehicle check (fixed) and oil service (condition-based) are not the same event. Between two oil services: brake fluid every 24 months.
Recalls: cross-check the ADAC Autokatalog entry and have the BMW VIN database queried for this period.

Bring the VIN, the production month, the engine code N43B20 and the 125 kW (170 PS) rating. Have the work recorded in the CBS history and collect the key last used, which carries the maintenance data.
This applies to every car fitted with the N43 engine.
A naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine with second-generation direct injection (High Precision Injection), able to run in stratified lean mode. It arrived in 2007 in the facelifted E87 1 Series: 118i (105 kW) and 120i (125 kW) with 1,995 cc. BMW also lists a 1.6 (N43B16O0, 1,599 cc, 90 kW) and a 90 kW 2.0 (N43B20K0) for the E87 116i. From 2011 the turbocharged N13 gradually replaced it.
Oil change with filter: 4.25 l for the N43 B20 according to TIS data. Longlife-04 is approved for petrol engines only in the EU, Switzerland, Norway and Liechtenstein. CBS calculates the due date; from September 2008, BMW encodes a 30,000 km starting value for the N43 (except in countries with a shortened provision): a forecast adjusted to use, not a guaranteed interval.
Chain. Replacing it is a major job: the TIS procedure starts by removing the cylinder head, the vibration damper and the oil sump, with the front axle carrier lowered. No replacement interval is set.
