BMW 5 Series E60 (saloon) and E61 (Touring), LCI facelift (2007–2010)

Phase 2, unveiled in March 2007 and on sale from September 2007, brought direct-injection petrol blocks (N43 and N53), switched the 520d from the M47TU2 to the N47 in 03/2008, and refreshed lights, bumpers and interior. BMW also harmonised oil-change intervals in 09/2008.

Documented maintenance

Same CBS architecture as pre-LCI; in September 2008 BMW harmonised oil-change intervals across the Longlife range (SI 00 13 07). Oil filter and microfilter at each oil service, vehicle check at 50/60,000 km, brake fluid every 24 months.

Recalls to check

Open campaigns for the 2007–2010 window are listed by ADAC; on 520d N47 cars built 03/2008–03/2010, the timing-chain-at-the-rear defect (confirmed by BMW to AUTO BILD and by the Darmstadt regional court in 2015) warrants a specific check.
