“AI” is everywhere, often for very little. For car maintenance, it is mainly useful for one thing: saving you the data entry. Here is what AutoKarnet’s artificial intelligence really does, what it doesn’t do, and what happens to your documents.
It reads your garage invoices
You photograph the invoice, or import the PDF. The AI extracts the type of work, the date, the mileage, the price, the garage’s name and, when it is printed, the date or mileage of the next service due. It suggests the service already filled in: you check it, correct it if needed, then confirm. The invoice stays filed with the service.
It is especially handy for bringing a history over: a pile of old invoices becomes a complete log in a few minutes. See also how to find a lost invoice.
It reads your registration document
To add a car, a scan of the registration document fills in the vehicle details: registration number, make, model, date of first registration, vehicle identification number. You just need to check them.
It answers questions about your car
The assistant relies on your car’s log: last oil change, latest visits by type of work, this year’s spending. When your model is in our maintenance schedules by model, it also uses that data, but only the sourced parts. It can prepare an addition to the log, which you confirm before it is saved.
It answers in the language of your question and puts safety first: it refuses to help with illegal modifications to the vehicle.
What it doesn’t do
- It doesn’t replace a mechanic: it doesn’t diagnose a fault remotely, and it can’t guess how worn your brake pads are.
- It doesn’t decide for you: every service it prepares waits for your confirmation.
- It can make mistakes, especially on a crumpled or handwritten invoice: that is why you check before saving.
And your documents?
AutoKarnet’s AI runs on our own servers: your invoices and registration document are not sent to an outside artificial intelligence provider. Your consent is asked before first use.
How much does it cost?
The AI assistant, including invoice and registration document reading, is part of Premium, at €1.99/month or €19.90/year. It is free for 7 days when you sign up, no credit card needed. Without Premium, manual entry stays free for one car and 5 service records. To compare with other apps, see our car maintenance app comparison.
