Electric cars now represent over 20% of sales in Europe. Their maintenance is radically different from combustion vehicles. Here's what really changes.
What disappears
No more oil changes, spark plugs, oil filters, air filters, exhaust systems, timing belts, clutches... An electric motor has about 10 times fewer moving parts. Result: 30-40% savings on annual maintenance.
What remains
Tires (EVs are heavier, they wear tires faster), brakes (which wear less thanks to regenerative braking), brake fluid, cabin filters, and inspections.
The key point: the battery
The battery is the most expensive component. Its capacity decreases over time (1-2% per year on average). Manufacturers warranty batteries for 8 years or 160,000 km. Beyond that, a replacement costs between €5,000 and €15,000.
And in AutoKarnet?
Add your electric vehicle, select the motor type, and AutoKarnet adapts service reminders. EV-specific manufacturer intervals are automatically taken into account.
