The 225d delivers 160 kW: Coupé only, from 03/2014 to 05/2015. It gave way to the 225d (165 kW, B47).

1,995 cc four-cylinder diesel (N47S1 in BMW’s parts catalogue, N47D20D at ADAC, N47D20T1 in BMW UK’s 2014 technical data): 160 kW and 450 Nm. Eight-speed Steptronic only. Coupé only (03/2014–05/2015, ADAC): BMW’s Convertible documents do not list this engine. 0–100 km/h: Coupé 6.3 s (automatic) (BMW, 2013 Coupé press kit).
Oil change: 5.2 l (BMW UK technical data 03/2014). BMW’s Convertible handbook (VI/15) approves for diesel engines BMW Longlife-04 and Longlife-12 FE (the latter only for certain engines), SAE 0W-40, 0W-30, 5W-40 or 5W-30; failing that, up to 1 litre of ACEA C3. No additives. The level is measured electronically; BMW asks for a check after every refuelling.
The car calculates each due date (Condition Based Service): the distance or time left appears briefly when the ignition is switched on, details are in the vehicle status menu, and the data is also stored in the key. BMW Service Inclusive lists the items it triggers: oil service with filter, vehicle check, air filter, microfilter, fuel filter and brake fluid. Brake fluid is time-based; periods with the battery disconnected are not counted, so have the workshop update it. BMW’s handbook gives no mileage for any item.
Chain (ADAC: “Steuerkette”). BMW’s parts catalogue for the F22 splits the timing drive into a lower and an upper part, with chain, sprocket, guide rail, tensioners and an oil spray nozzle. No scheduled replacement in the documents consulted: a repair item, not maintenance.
Before the appointment, note 5.2 l of oil and an approved grade (Longlife-04 or Longlife-12 FE). Hand the advisor the key last used: BMW stores the service data in it. Note the build month (registration document or VIN plate): ADAC lists the July 2019 recall for four- and six-cylinder diesels built 01/2010–12/2017 (EGR module checked, faulty parts replaced). Have BMW check your VIN. Ask for a printout of the due items: BMW gives no mileage for them.

Electronic measurement: the status is available after about 30 minutes of driving; the detailed measurement is done standing, engine warm and idling (about 1 minute). Add oil only when the message asks, in the quantity shown, within 200 km. Overfilling can damage the engine or the catalytic converter.
