BMW 2 Series Coupé F22 and Convertible F23 (2014–2017)
BMW launched the Coupé in March 2014 and the Convertible in February 2015, both built in Leipzig. The two bodies share engines and servicing, so there is one page per engine: pick yours by the kW on the registration document and the build month, because several engines changed between 2014 and 2016 at the same output. Figures come from BMW documents and ADAC; anything we could not verify is left out.

Phase and body: how to tell
F22 is the two-door Coupé, F23 the Convertible with an electrically operated fabric top; BMW gives both the same length (4,432 mm). This phase was built until June 2017 (ADAC). The facelift sold from July 2017 brought bi-LED headlights as standard, larger outer air intakes, single-piece LED rear lights and a redesigned instrument panel with a sliding cupholder cover: a car without them belongs to this phase. In case of doubt, the build month on the registration document or VIN plate decides.
Engine line-up and engine codes

Maintenance: what BMW specifies
There is no fixed oil-change mileage: the car calculates each due date (CBS), shows it at start-up and stores the service data in the key. BMW Service Inclusive lists the items it triggers: oil service with filter, vehicle check, air filter, microfilter, spark plugs (petrol) or fuel filter (diesel), and brake fluid, which runs on time. Oil change quantities in BMW’s tables: 4.25 l (B38), 5.0 l (N20 and B47), 5.25 l (B48), 5.2 l (N47), 6.5 l (N55 and B58). Top-up approvals in the 2015 Convertible handbook: Longlife-01, -01 FE, -04, -12 FE and -14 FE+ for petrol engines, Longlife-04 and -12 FE for diesels. The level is measured electronically and BMW asks for a check after every refuelling.
Convertible: top and rollover bars
The fabric top opens or closes in 20 seconds, up to 50 km/h (BMW). The handbook asks you not to operate it below −10 °C, to keep 2 m of clearance, fold the luggage partition down and close the boot lid first, and never to leave the top wet or dirty in its compartment for more than a day. If it fails, two people can close it by hand; then have it checked. Two rollover bars behind the rear head restraints extend in a fraction of a second: after a deployment without load they can be pushed back by hand, after an accident they are checked and replaced. Boot: 335 l with the top closed, 280 l open.
Recalls to check
ADAC lists for this phase: a BMW recall of September 2024 for cars built 01/2016–12/2017 (driver airbag gas generator, airbag replaced); the July 2019 recall for four- and six-cylinder diesels built 01/2010–12/2017 (EGR module checked, faulty parts replaced); and two small campaigns, the steering gear with EPS unit (December 2016, about 500 cars worldwide built up to 06/2016) and airbags not firing in their first stage (January 2017, 147 cars in Germany built 07–12/2016). Have BMW check your VIN.
