BMW 1 Series E87 LCI (2007–2011)
In March 2007 the five-door 1 Series gained a new front end, direct-injection petrol engines and a new generation of aluminium diesels. Servicing changed too: the microfilter and spark plugs now follow the oil service. Pick your exact version below — the power in kW and the build date matter more than the badge.

LCI or pre-LCI: how to tell
Start with the build date: BMW introduced the facelift and the revised CBS on the E87 in 03/2007. On the car, the LCI has a larger kidney grille with a bolder chrome frame, a wider lower air intake crossed by a chrome bar, a more pronounced spoiler lip and darker headlight surrounds. The rear lights keep their outline, but reversing lights and indicators are now separated. Then check the power: apart from the 85 kW 116i and the 195 kW 130i, no LCI engine shares its output with a first-phase engine.
Do you have a three-door (E81)?
The three-door 1 Series, code E81, arrived in 2007 with the same engines and the same CBS service programme as the facelifted five-door. Simply choose the page with the same output above.

What changed for maintenance
From 03/2007 the CBS no longer shows separate countdowns for the microfilter, spark plugs, particulate filter or emissions test. The microfilter is replaced at every oil service; spark plugs (petrol), air filter and diesel fuel filter at every third. The oil starting value stays at 25,000 km for petrol and 30,000 km for diesel, 24 months at most; from 09/2008 BMW raised it to 30,000 km for several petrol engines, including the N43. Brake fluid: still every 24 months.
